Izanagi Project Villas by Vassilis Siafaricas and Garchitects is a winner of the 2025 Architizer Vision Awards– Editor's Choice for Vision for Interiors

The Izanagi Project reimagines sustainable luxury through a subterranean villa complex in Sivota, Lefkada. Inspired by the Japanese-Greek philosophy of harmony with nature and named after the earth goddess Izanagi, the design blends seamlessly into the landscape, preserving natural beauty while delivering high-end living.
Designed by Vassilis Siafaricas for Ecléde and G Architects, the project utilizes earth-sheltered bioclimatic architecture to ensure passive cooling, energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. A++ energy-filtered windows, thermal facades, geothermal heating, and standalone A/C systems enhance performance and comfort. Locally sourced materials and advanced waterproofing add to its ecological integrity.
What sets the project apart is its quiet radicalism: it vanishes into the terrain instead of dominating it—challenging conventional luxury aesthetics and setting a new benchmark for sustainable real estate. The Izanagi Project is not just built beneath the earth, but rooted in a vision for future-forward, eco-conscious living.
